This particular 840Ci is powered by an M62 4.4L V8 engine that produces 282 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. It is extremely important to know that this BMW has the "[961] Special Engine" build code, meaning it has Alusil cylinder liners and not the bore-scoring-prone Nikasil-coated cylinder liners that the M60 E31s have. Bore scoring causes running issues, including loss of compression, oil burning, and ultimately requires an engine replacement or rebuild. Since this 840Ci has the Alusil M62 engine, you can sleep easily at night knowing you'll have a long-lasting engine that is not affected by these issues.

The E31 8-Series is a very rare vehicle in the United States. BMW sold only 6,920 E31 8-Series in total (all trims included) in the US market, and this particular example is one of only 3,075 840Ci's with the M62 V8 engine worldwide.

HISTORY
Clean Carfax, and only two owners since new! The first owner purchased the BMW in August 1997 and owned it for 16 years before selling it to the second owner in 2013 with 94K miles on it. The second owner had it for over 11 years and only averaged 280 miles a year before AlphaCars acquired it with 97K miles.

CONDITION
Impressive condition for a 28-year-old vehicle! The two previous owners have taken good care of it. We performed a paint correction (polishing) to give the paint abundant gloss and depth, and minimize some minor imperfections. The full leather interior is equally clean and presents in great condition. The trims and controls are clean and detailed, but they have some minor blemishes, as noted in our detailed video.
